SmackDown Superstar AJ Styles appeared on this week’s post-Night Of Champions episode of RAW.
He teamed up with World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins to defeat The Judgment Day (Finn Balor & Damian Priest) in the main event.
Many fans criticized WWE’s move to use SmackDown’s AJ on RAW, as it defeated the purpose of doing the Draft.
According to PWInsider, Chief Content Officer Triple H booking The Phenomenal One on RAW was a last minute move:
“It was a last-second creative decision as Styles was not originally slated for RAW and actually flew home upon returning to the United States on Sunday.”
In an update, PWInsider later reported that this was actually Vince McMahon’s decision, who requested his son-in-law to book Styles with Rollins on RAW.
While Vince doesn’t run the WWE creative process full-time anymore, he does give his input and makes requests every now and then.
As we have reported before, Brock Lesnar vs. Omos at WrestleMania 39 was also Vince McMahon’s idea.
Vince was last seen on WWE programming on the June 27th 2022 episode of RAW, where he introduced John Cena for Cena’s 20th anniversary segment.
That might’ve been Vince’s final appearance on WWE TV. Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel said earlier this year that he’s open to Vince appearing on WWE shows if he wants to, but Vince said that’s not going to happen.
