Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, featuring Batista and The New Day.
• At WWE Crown Jewel 2021, Xavier Woods defeated Finn Balor in the Finals to win the King of the Ring tournament.
Vince McMahon was still running WWE at this time and he wanted to turn The New Day heel after Woods’ big win.
Here’s what former WWE host Matt Camp said on his podcast:
“There was a plan for Woods and Kofi to be heels when [Woods] won King of the Ring. That was absolutely in play. I didn’t get a lot of details, but there was thought of the power going to his head and he finally wins what he always wanted to win and all that.”

• WWE Legend & Hollywood Actor Batista has shared that his recent body transformation has been particularly challenging, he has dropped around 75 pounds in the last 18 months.
In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, the 55-year-old actor revealed he is now the lightest he has been since he was 19, weighing around 240 pounds, down from 315 pounds in 2023.
He discussed the difficulties of shedding weight after gaining it for his role in Knock at the Cabin. Reflecting on his wrestling days, he noted:
“This is probably the lightest I’ve been since I was 19 years old. The heaviest I’ve ever been was 370 pounds. When I started Deacon, I was about 325 pounds, and throughout most of my wrestling career, I was about 290 pounds.
Now, I’m about 240 pounds. Just a year and a half ago, for Knock at the Cabin, I went up to 315 pounds. And that’s when the nightmare started. Getting that weight off has been a challenge.”
