– Vince Russo Says Hell In A Cell 2017 Ending Isn’t Going To Bring In Even One New Customer, Former WWE Wrestler On How WWE Can Make PPVs Better
During a recent edition of “The Brand” podcast, Vince Russo and former WWE wrestler “Big” Vito LoGrosso gave their views on the Hell In A Cell 2017 PPV. Below is what they said:
Russo: With all due respect, Sami Zayn pulling Kevin Owens out of the way of a falling Shane McMahon is not going to bring one new casual viewer to the dance. Nobody’s gonna talk about this around the water cooler. This isn’t a “Oh did you see Hell in the Cell moment last night”. It’s none of that.
Sami Zayn pulling Kevin Owens out of the way is a spot for the “This is awesome crowd” which they already have. This pay-per-view is not gonna draw any more interest in the product than they had going in the show. That’s the freaking problem, bro. They can’t have flat pay-per-views. They can’t have okay big shows.
The thought should be how are we going to craft and write this show that we can start building some momentum and getting new customers. This show is not going to get them one new customer.
Vito: Well and the answer to that is to go back to the old format of having fewer pay-per-views, when we used to have four pay-per-views per year and then it was six a year. Now it’s every month. I can’t have a great pay-per-view 12 times a year and then follow it with Raw and then follow it with SmackDown.
Because then you expect the same quality every time. And if you did cut down the amount of pay-per-views, they’re looking at the Starrcade again. Starrcade was great when Ric Flair was there and the NWA and WCW. Starrcade will always be a WCW pay-per-view. Trying to bring it back.
You can’t bring back the past and you can’t bring back the nostalgia of it because Ric Flair’s not there, Sting is not there. All the guys who made it great, they’re no more. I think if they’d cut down the amount of pay-per-views, people will appreciate it.
