• WCW Personality Claims Christian Cage Didn’t Draw In TNA

Attitude Era Veteran Christian left WWE in 2005 to join Dixie Carter’s Total Nonstop Action! (TNA), where he wrestled until late 2008 and eventually returned to WWE in 2009.

However, he returned to TNA for one night at the Slammiversary 2012 pay-per-view, while still being under contract to WWE, which was only possible as a deal between the two promotions, that in return allowed then-TNA-star ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair to appear at the 2012 Hall of Fame induction and get inducted a second time as part of the legendary 4 Horsemen faction.

During a recent episode of his weekly ’83 Weeks’ podcast, WCW Legend Eric Bischoff claimed that Christian (using the ring name Christian Cage) didn’t draw at all during his TNA days.

Here’s what Eric had to say:

“I love the idea that TNA allowed Ric (Flair) to be a part of WWE, that was a classy move on TNA’s part. In fact, they negotiated for an appearance for a WWE person I thought diminished the class. Now, it’s transactional. What started out as a classic move turned into a transactional move.

Another WWE name that didn’t move the needle in TNA. Great talent, no question about it absolutely. Didn’t matter, didn’t move the needle. Because there was no strategy but I thought the move was a great move, in the beginning.

I was a little disappointed that they diminished it by doing a quid pro quo, I just didn’t like that part. But you know, it was good for Ric. It didn’t hurt Christian.”
