• WCW Veteran Was Originally Scheduled To Be A Part Of El Grande Americano’s WWE Debut

Konnan recently spoke about a scrapped plan involving El Grande Americano.

On an episode of K100 with Konnan and Disco Inferno, the WCW Veteran revealed he was originally supposed to be involved with Americano’s storyline, but the role never came to be.

Disco Inferno guessed Konnan might have been cast as someone from Chad Gable’s past in Mexico, but Konnan dismissed that idea.

“I don’t know what I was going to do, but I was supposed to be part of it. I hardly doubt that’s what they would’ve used me for, but go ahead,” Konnan said.

El Grande Americano made his surprise debut on Monday Night RAW earlier this year, quickly making waves with his high-flying lucha style. He soon entered a rivalry with the Latino World Order, building toward a match with Rey Mysterio.

Mysterio was later pulled from that match due to injury. Rey Fenix stepped in and faced Americano at WrestleMania 41 instead, where Americano won.

El Grande Americano also won the WWE Speed Championship later, by defeating Dragon Lee.
