The end of this month will mark 3 years since Roman Reigns won the Universal Championship. He has also held the WWE Championship for over a year. The two titles were unified at WrestleMania 38 to create the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
Reigns received his new single Undisputed Title belt from Triple H a few months back, after he completed 1,000 days as champion.
The Tribal Chief has been undefeated in singles competition for a long time and has only been pinned once since December 2019, which happened in a Tag Team match between Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa and The Usos at Money In The Bank back in June.
Fightful Select reports that when they asked their source in WWE about when Reigns will lose the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, the answer they received was, “Whenever Roman Reigns & Paul Heyman f***ing say.”
Reigns and Heyman have a great influence on this creative decision and a senior company official assured that both are constantly looking at what possibilities there are, and when they think something is good for business, they will do it, including when and to whom Reigns will lose the title.
It was also noted that there was never any serious consideration about Sami Zayn or Cody Rhodes dethroning Reigns at Elimination Chamber or WrestleMania 39.
Rhodes knew well in advance that he was going to lose that night and that his next feud after the event would be with Brock Lesnar. Reigns and Heyman also knew ahead of time that The Tribal Chief would defeat Rhodes at WrestleMania.
The reason why WWE booked Reigns to win is that they think he is currently at his best and the outcome made Rhodes better and more over than he was before WrestleMania.
Reigns will defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Jey Uso in a Tribal Combat match in the main event of SummerSlam tonight.
