Below are a couple of top WWE & AEW news stories of the day, involving Sami Zayn, CM Punk and MJF.
• On last week’s episode of RAW, Drew McIntyre defeated Sami Zayn. McIntyre later assaulted Zayn in a backstage segment.
This was done to write Zayn off TV. On this week’s RAW, WWE announced that Zayn is injured and is dealing with a partially torn meniscus.
The Wrestling Observer reported the following about it:
“I was told that he had asked for time off. The partially torn meniscus may be legit because guys are always hurt anyway. Last week, I was told Sami is gonna be off for a while.”

• AEW World Champion MJF, initially expected to play a more significant role in the film “The Iron Claw”, has seen most of his scenes cut, with only brief appearances that might go unnoticed.
PWInsider shared details about the original script from 2022, revealing three scenes involving MJF as Lance Von Erich. The scenes depicted Lance’s introduction as a Von Erich Family member, the team’s struggle in the ring, and Lance’s firing after demanding more money from Fritz Von Erich.
The Lance Von Erich subplot was intended to be a minor part of the film, with MJF’s character appearing in only a few short scenes, as per the original script.
