Why WWE Booked LA Knight To Lose At Money In The Bank 2023

At last night’s Money In The Bank 2023 premium live event, LA Knight almost won the Men’s Ladder Match for a World Title match contract, but got slammed down from the top of a ladder by Damian Priest, who won in the end.

During the post-show press conference, Triple H said great things come to those who wait and LA Knight’s rise is just starting.

According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE didn’t book Knight to win last night because they currently haven’t decided when they could put a World Title on Knight, as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns is a long-term champion and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins will have other top challengers lined up, like Cody Rhodes, Gunther & Drew McIntyre:

“Fans think that they’re never getting it, but that isn’t the case here, it’s like ‘if we give him the briefcase, then he’s getting a title shot, but when are we putting the title on him?’ and the answer is never, it’s probably not a good thing to give it to him.”

WWE didn’t want to hurt LA’s momentum in the case that they’re forced to book an unsuccessful Money In The Bank cash-in.
