Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, involving WrestleMania 40, LA Knight and Bray Wyatt.

• As we reported before, WWE is moving up the start time for WrestleMania 40 from 8 PM EST to 7 PM EST, with doors opening even earlier at 6:30 PM EST.

The Wrestling Observer suggests this earlier start is to ensure everyone is in the arena for the 7 PM start time.

Also, both nights of WrestleMania XL are expected to be extended to 4 hours each, so the early start time helps to avoid finishing the show too late.

• At Royal Rumble 2023, Bray Wyatt wrestled his final match. He defeated LA Knight in a Mountain Dew Pitch Black Match.

During an interview on In The Kliq podcast, Knight had the following to say about being Wyatt’s final opponent in the ring:

“I don’t really think about it too much just because it’s a weird thing to consider and celebrate I guess, in a weird way. I wish I wasn’t his last match, so I think that’s really more the way I think about it.

At the same time, that was an experience for me where that was an opportunity, and I don’t know that it was looked at as an opportunity in a lot of ways. I think it was just thought of as here’s a guy who can handle himself in this situation and help to put the spotlight on Bray and bring him back, as I did.

But at the same time, man did I shine a light on myself as much as I could. If they gave me 30 seconds, if they gave me two minutes, no matter how much time I had on that TV screen, my God was I gonna make a splash. My God, was I gonna make a loud noise and that’s exactly what I did.

So in that sense, I’m very grateful for that.”

Bray Wyatt passed away on August 24, 2023 at the age of 36.
