• Why WWE Decided To Change Original SummerSlam 2019 Plan For Roman Reigns

According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, WWE originally planned on doing Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan at SummerSlam 2019, but they took that match off the SummerSlam match-card and decided to have a longer build-up to generate fan interest in this feud.

This match could take place at next month’s Clash Of Champions 2019 PPV, but there’s also a possibility that WWE saves it for Hell In A Cell 2019 (although it’s highly unlikely that WWE will keep Reigns off two straight PPVs).

Below is what Alvarez said on Wrestling Observer Live:

“Whatever [Vince McMahon] changes in the storyline, the whole idea behind the storyline is to lead to Daniel Bryan vs Roman Reigns. I guess they could do a a big swerve and say — Rusev was the guy, but I’m pretty sure we’re gonna get Roman Reigns vs Daniel Bryan.

We’re probably going to get it at Clash Of Champions, but they could hold off until Hell In A Cell.

So that was the idea that they were going to wrestle at SummerSlam. They decided they were gonna do this compelling angle to make people more interested in the match. You can let me know whether you agree with that or not, but that was the idea.”
