• WWE Almost Sent RAW Star To NXT Before Highly Acclaimed Feud
At WWE WrestleMania 39 Saturday, Rey Mysterio defeated Dominik Mysterio in a Father vs. Son match.
The match saw Judgment Day, Legado Del Fantasma, Bad Bunny, Angie & Aalyah Mysterio get involved.
The next night on RAW, this feud continued and Bad Bunny got involved. He punched Dominik, which led to Damian Priest chokeslamming him through the announce table.
At the Backlash 2023 premium live event in Puerto Rico on May 6th, Rey Mysterio & Bad Bunny vs. Dominik Mysterio & Damian Priest is expected to take place.
There will obviously be a singles rematch between Rey & Dominik in the future, and it might have an interesting stipulation.
During his appearance on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast, Rey pitched the idea of doing a “Mask vs. Hair” match against his son:
“Maybe I put my mask on the line against his hair, which is some lucha culture. If I lose that, I take my mask off. If he loses, he shaves his hair off. That might be interesting.
He talks a lot of crap. Why not? Back it up. I will pitch it out. I’ll challenge him. Straight up.”
According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE almost sent Dominik to NXT before he started his program with Rey:
“While there is no chance of this happening now, before the decision to start the Rey vs. Dominik program, there was serious thought given to sending Dominik to NXT.”
