• WWE Cancels New Plan After NXT Beats AEW Dynamite In Ratings
Last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite on TNT, which featured AEW World Champion Chris Jericho vs. Jungle Boy, drew 683,000 viewers.
This is down from previous week’s 778,000 viewers.
On the other hand, last week’s episode of WWE NXT on USA Network, which featured two title matches, drew 795,000 viewers.
This is up from previous week’s 778,000 viewers.
So NXT beat AEW with over 100,000 viewers last week. It should be noted that NXT also beat AEW in the young and adult demographics.
With that being said, the Wrestling Observer is reporting that WWE officials are no longer planning to move NXT out of the Full Sail Arena as they have managed to beat AEW in ratings quite a few times now.
At first, they felt going out to new arenas would help give NXT a new feel, but WWE officials don’t think it’s needed anymore:
“They’re pretty much committed to Full Sail through March. You know they were gonna — there was talk of going out in January, but now that they’re not losing in the ratings and it’s not an embarrassment, they don’t need to move.
If it becomes an embarrassment that’s a different story. Vince doesn’t like to lose.
Right now they’re not blaming the venue because they’re doing okay.”
