On this day in 1993, the World Wrestling Federation aired an episode of their weekly TV show ‘WWF Mania’.
It featured pre-taped matches, interviews & storyline segments on the road to the ‘WWF SummerSlam 1993’ PPV.

• WWE Cancels RAW Segment Because Of CM Punk & Chris Jericho
Every Monday night during RAW, WWE uses Sarah Schreiber to interview fans during commercial breaks and then they post this footage on YouTube.
During a RAW commercial break back in June, there was a contest about guessing wrestlers from their nicknames.
When a kid was asked who’s the “Best In The World”, the kid went on to say CM Punk (and not Shane McMahon).

Due to fear of fans doing something like this again, WWE decided to script kids this week on RAW, but the kids weren’t following the scripts properly so they nixed the segment.
Below is what Dave Meltzer said about this on Wrestling Observer:
“They were trying kids out early in the show and telling them what to say. I guess nobody was following the script good enough so I guess they didn’t do the segment at all. They were trying to fix the kids’ reaction segment because they don’t trust the kids because maybe they will bring up [someone like] Chris Jericho or CM Punk.”
