Below are some top WWE & AEW news stories of the day, involving Chris Jericho, Ryback and CM Punk.
• At the Survivor Series 2023 premium live event, Gunther defeated The Miz to retain the Intercontinental Championship.
During this match, commentators mentioned that Chris Jericho holds the record for the most Intercontinental Title reigns at 9, while mentioning that Miz is an 8-time Intercontinental Champion and needs one more win to tie the record, which he didn’t.
According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE wasn’t allowed to mention Jericho previously, due to him working in AEW, but that has changed now:
“They mentioned Jericho as a 9-time IC champion which had been not allowed to be said the past few weeks.”
• Former WWE Superstar Ryback put his career on the line at Survivor Series. He tweeted the following before the PLE:
“If CM Punk returns tonight, I will officially retire from pro wrestling.”
After Punk returned to WWE, The Big Guy refused to retire. Below is what he posted:
“I will not be retiring. He had to return to AEW and that did not happen.”
All Elite Wrestling aired their Rampage and Collision TV shows LIVE last night as well.
• After Survivor Series 2023, CM Punk posted the following about his WWE return on his Instagram story:
“Actually yeah, maybe today, satan.”
