• WWE Commentator Furloughed

WWE NXT Commentator Nigel McGuinness hasn’t been used on commentary over the past couple of weeks. Only Mauro Ranallo and Beth Phoenix have been calling the action on NXT.

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that McGuinness was furloughed by WWE as part of the budget cuts in April. There’s no word on when he’ll be back.

• Update On Kurt Angle’s Status

WWE Hall Of Famer Kurt Angle was furloughed by the company last month as part of the budget cuts. He made his return on this week’s NXT, where he officiated the Cage Fight between Matt Riddle and Timothy Thatcher.

It looks like it was just a one-time appearance, as there’s no word on Angle signing a new contract with WWE. WWE used him because his non-compete clause is still in effect and he’s still being paid.

The Wrestling Observer noted that his status with the company is similar to that of Drake Maverick.

“The company will use that talent if they have an idea for them.”
