Despite rumors of tardiness swirling around WrestleMania 40, WWE has refuted reports suggesting that The Rock was several hours late for his highly anticipated match at the event.
The Rock made a triumphant return to the squared circle at WrestleMania 40, teaming up with Roman Reigns to face Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes in his first advertised match in over a decade. After a grueling battle lasting nearly 45 minutes, The Rock and Reigns emerged victorious, with The Rock securing the win by pinning Rhodes.
However, earlier this month, The Rock faced criticism for alleged tardiness during events leading up to WrestleMania 40. According to reports from TheWrap, Dwayne Johnson arrived three hours late before his main event match, and he was also reportedly two hours behind schedule for WWE World, a fan event in Philadelphia. These delays prompted boos from the crowd and garnered negative feedback from local Philadelphia media.
In response to these allegations, a WWE insider attributed Johnson’s late arrival to other WWE commitments and traffic issues in Philadelphia, which hindered his journey to the WWE World venue in Center City. However, this explanation did little to quell the disappointment among fans and the press, who expected punctuality from a major star like The Rock.
Offering a different perspective, Chris Legentil, WWE’s executive vice president for Talent Relations and Head of Communications, defended The Rock’s punctuality.
Legentil stated that Johnson was not only on time for WrestleMania but was also hours early to assist with rehearsals, and he was a pleasure to work with throughout the entire event.
“Dwayne was not only on time for WrestleMania, he was hours early to help with rehearsal — and a pleasure to work with throughout the entire run.”
With WWE’s assertion, it seems that The Rock’s commitment to his WrestleMania match was unwavering, despite rumors suggesting otherwise.
