• WWE Denies Request To Release 2 Wrestlers
As we reported last month, former NXT UK Tag Team Champions Grizzled Young Veterans / The Dyad (James Drake and Zack Gibson) asked for their release from WWE.
Their most recent work on NXT was being a part of Joe Gacy’s Schism faction.
James took to Twitter to reveal that WWE didn’t grant them their release. Below is what he wrote:
“As of today, WWE has denied my request for my release.
I want to thank you all for your support throughout my career, I’ll never take that for granted.
My contract with WWE expires on 14th October 2023.
I’m excited to share our next chapter, once we are free agents.”
Zack tweeted:
“Today WWE have denied our release, which was requested on April 3rd.
On 15th Oct ’23 we will be free agents again.
I personally want to thank all of our fans for your continued support, it means a lot to both of us especially during times like these! We’ll see you on the 16th!”
James & Zack signed with WWE in 2018 and originally worked on the NXT UK brand, before being moved to NXT.

• On This Day In Pro Wrestling History (April 24, 2001) – Old School Wrestling Legend Passed Away
On this day in 2001, we lost Old School Wrestling Legend “Handsome” Johnny Valentine (Real name: John Wisniski) at the age of 72 as a result of a number of injuries and complications.
Johnny Valentine was the legendary father of WWF Legend Greg “The Hammer” Valentine, and while his son got inducted in 2004, Johnny has yet to be (posthumously) inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, which is most likely going to happen as part of the annual ‘Legacy Wing’.
In 1973, he won the “Most Inspirational Wrestler of the Year” award by Pro Wrestling Illustrated.
† REST IN PEACE JOHNNY VALENTINE
