CM Punk made a surprising return to WWE at Survivor Series 2023, just two months after being fired from AEW.

The comeback, shrouded in secrecy, was reportedly orchestrated by Nick Khan and Triple H, excluding Vince McMahon from the negotiations. However, there are mixed sentiments within the WWE locker room regarding Punk’s return.

According to Sports Illustrated, there are concerns about how Punk will integrate into the locker room. His stint in AEW was both exciting and divisive, creating a rift among colleagues. The report notes, “Though his run in AEW was exciting, it was also extremely divisive. Punk had his share of enemies, as well as plenty of supporters”.

Contrary to common assumptions, it was Punk who initiated contact with WWE for a return, not the other way around.

The report emphasizes, “A major element in Punk’s return is that WWE did not chase him. Punk opened the line of communication, and he listened, and then agreed, to what was asked of him before signing his contract”.

The dynamics of Punk’s return add an intriguing layer to his comeback narrative within the wrestling world.

Punk cut a promo on this week’s RAW and said he has changed and he is back ‘home’.

RAW drew 1.88 million viewers with a 0.65 rating in the 18-49 demo, which is up from last week’s 1.46 million viewers with a 0.49 rating.

This was the highest rating of RAW since the post-WrestleMania 39 episode.
