Below are a couple of top WWE & AEW news stories of the day.
• After calling WWE “the Harvey Weinstein of pro wrestling” earlier this year, AEW President Tony Khan said he’d love to work with the #1 wrestling promotion in the world.
During an interview on The Rich Eisen Show, Tony was asked if he’d like to do a WWE x AEW supershow. Here’s what Khan said:
“I would love if that were possible. I don’t know that it is, but it would be great if it was possible for the fans, I think that would be wonderful.
But there are a lot of challenging business things in the world of pro-wrestling that I think would make that a very challenging thing to do.”
During an interview on the Sports Media Podcast with Richard Deitsch, WWE Executive Vice President of Talent Relations & Head of Communications Chris Legentil said the following about the possibility of WWE and AEW working together:
“No interest. I just want to make clear. There is definitely a variety of excellent talent that don’t currently reside in WWE. So, there is no shot there that is being fired. It’s just to say, the answer to your question is no conversation has been had in relation to that.”

• Britt Baker, who recently returned to AEW television at Forbidden Door after a year-long break, has been suspended following a backstage altercation with fellow wrestler MJF. This incident is the latest in a series of internal conflicts that have plagued AEW since its inception.
According to the Wrestling Observer, the confrontation arose from comments Baker allegedly made about MJF and his girlfriend, AEW interviewer Alicia Atout, backstage at the July 17th episode of Dynamite. These remarks reached MJF, leading to a heated exchange between the two wrestlers.
“Details have been kept pretty quiet. It came from something backstage at the 7/17 Dynamite where Baker allegedly said something about MJF, and Alicia Atout, MJF’s girlfriend, heard it and told him, and he confronted Baker. This led to an investigation with HR talking to people on 7/24 and I believe the disciplinary committee that did the investigation recommended that.”
The HR investigation resulted in the disciplinary committee deciding to suspend Baker for one to two weeks and impose a fine, the details of which remain undisclosed.
Sources indicate that this situation highlights deeper unresolved issues within the company, with some insiders expressing sympathy towards Baker. It is unclear if AEW President Tony Khan was directly involved in the disciplinary decision, but efforts were made to handle the matter quietly.
The suspension has surprised many, as there were no known issues between Britt Baker and MJF outside of their on-screen storylines. This incident adds to AEW’s history of backstage dramas, reminiscent of the notable All Out 2022 and All In 2023 controversies.
