Below are the complete results from tonight’s SmackDown, featuring an update on Randy Orton.
– Queen of the Ring Nia Jax kicked off SmackDown by calling out WWE Women’s Champion Bayley. As Bayley was making her way to the ring, she got attacked by Piper Niven & Chelsea Green. Chelsea then told Nia that she doesn’t have to worry about facing Bayley at SummerSlam, as she’ll be facing the new champion, Piper Niven. Nia said she doesn’t care who she faces, because she’s going to annihilate her opponent and win the Title.
– AJ Styles asked Nick Aldis for some TV tonight on tonight’s show, where he will address his future. Aldis asked AJ what he’s going to say. AJ said it’s going to be hard to say it once.
– Tommaso Ciampa def. WWE Tag Team Champion Austin Theory
– LA Knight said he’s wants Logan Paul’s United States Championship.
– Andrade def. Apollo Crews
Angel Garza watched this match from ringside and was happy when Andrade won. Legado Del Fantasma came out after the match and Santos Escobar looked impressed as well. Andrade walked past them and ignored them. Santos wasn’t happy about it.
– Corey Graves revealed on commentary that Randy Orton is currently getting his knee evaluated.
– Paul Heyman told Solo Sikoa that he’s The Wiseman for a reason and Roman Reigns used to take advice from him all the time. Heyman said he’s seeing a lot of violent acts from The Bloodline right now with the hiring of Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa, but no strategy, and the strategy should be that when Roman Reigns comes back, they have WWE Champion Cody Rhodes in check. Kevin Owens’ music hit and Solo wants to fix this problem. Fans chanted “We Want Roman” during this segment.
– Angel Garza confronted Andrade in the locker room. Apollo Crews attacked Angel from behind.
– Kevin Owens talked about having Randy Orton’s back and how Randy didn’t really lose to King & Queen of the Ring. Paul Heyman interrupted and the fans chanted “We Want Roman” again. Heyman said nobody wants Roman here more than him. Heyman begged Owens to back off from The Bloodline because all Solo Sikoa is doing now is hiring criminals to The Bloodline who are bloody thirsty thugs. Heyman said him and Roman turned down every new member of The Bloodline because they used to do background checks. Owens doesn’t believe Heyman and won’t stop fighting until he gets The Bloodline out of his world. Owens said he doesn’t need Heyman’s help. Heyman then lost it and cut an intense promo about Owens’ theory and accidentally hit KO with his mic. Owens went after Heyman, but Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa came out. The Street Profits backed up Owens.
– The Bloodline (Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa) def. The Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins)
– Piper Niven & Chelsea Green def. WWE Women’s Champion Bayley & Naomi
Chelsea pinned Naomi to pick up the win.
– LA Knight, WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson showed respect to AJ Styles backstage.
– AJ Styles came out to the ring and said he can’t go to the back of line at this point in his life to get another shot at Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship. Styles got emotional while talking about banging up his body for over 20 years. Styles said his son graduated high school this week and he was there for the party, and he realized how many of these he has missed. He said maybe it’s time to stay home and be The Phenomenal Father. He called Gallows & Anderson and said he couldn’t have done it without them. They did the Too Sweet one last time and hugged.
Styles said he whispered something in Cody’s ear backstage and it was if he wouldn’t mind coming out to the ring when he calls him and AJ called him out. Styles told Rhodes that he had one of the best matches of his career at Backlash, and if he’s going to go out then that should be one of his last matches. AJ said this is still the house that AJ Styles built and he wants to hand the keys to Cody.
Cody got emotional and thanked AJ for being a big bro. They shook hands and hugged. Cody raised AJ’s hand, but AJ attacked Cody. Gallows & Anderson stopped the referees from interfering, as AJ hit Rhodes with the Styles Clash from the top of the steel ring steps on to the floor to end the show.
