Below are a couple of top WWE & AEW news stories of the day.

• The WWE Universe has seen the departure of Ricochet, raising concerns about others potentially leaving. In response, WWE has secured key talents, with Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, and Chad Gable signing new contracts. There was also speculation about Natalya’s future, but WWE made a significant move to keep her.

To prevent her from entering free agency, WWE offered a lucrative contract. The Wrestling Observer reported that WWE finalized Natalya’s new deal just before her contract expired. Sources indicated that WWE recognized the risk of losing her and made a strong offer to retain her. This move was made months ago, though the news surfaced earlier than planned.

Natalya, with a 17-and-a-half-year tenure, has the longest stint of any woman in WWE’s modern history. Only Randy Orton and The Miz have comparable uninterrupted longevity on the current roster. WWE was determined to prevent her from joining AEW or any other promotion.

At 42, she remains a valuable asset to the company, and WWE has ensured her continued presence.

• At Money In The Bank 2024, Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn faced Bron Breakker in a match with a surprising finish. Zayn retained his title by countering Breakker’s spear attempt with a kick to the face, followed by his signature Helluva Kick.

This match was a significant milestone for Breakker, marking his biggest main roster match and his first opportunity to challenge for a title as a member of RAW. Many fans expected Breakker to win the Intercontinental Title, but the feud has since continued, now involving Ilja Dragunov, leading to speculation about a potential triple threat match at SummerSlam.

However, the Wrestling Observer reported that a singles rematch is still scheduled and Bron lost at MITB so he can win at the biggest event of the summer:

“It would be a surprise for them to beat Breakker twice in a row. So it at least would feel like Breakker is the favorite to win, and the reason he lost first was so his title win would be on a higher profile show.”
