Below are a couple of top WWE & AEW news stories of the day.

• Tensions are rising between WWE and AEW. After NXT’s successful event at Philadelphia’s iconic 2300 Arena (fka ECW Arena) earlier this month, the brand planned to keep the momentum going by booking the legendary Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.

However, reports indicate that AEW had already secured dates at the venue, blocking WWE’s plans.

According to Andrew Zarian, AEW has locked in the Hammerstein Ballroom for December 20th to host the ROH Final Battle PPV, followed by an episode of AEW Collision on December 21st.

The Wrestling Observer noted that NXT’s desired date clashed too closely with AEW’s bookings, leaving NXT unable to proceed.

The Hammerstein Ballroom is no ordinary venue — it holds a special place in wrestling lore as the site of many legendary ECW events and WWE’s memorable One Night Stand pay-per-views in 2005 and 2006. It’s easy to see why WWE aimed to return to such hallowed ground.

• WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event is set to return with a live broadcast on NBC and a simulcast on Peacock on December 14 at 8 PM ET from the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island, New York.

The show originally aired from 1985 to 1991 on NBC and briefly moved to FOX in 1992. WWE revived it in March 2006 after RAW returned to USA Network under NBCU, continuing until August 2008.

Despite this upcoming premiere, the company is already making plans for the second episode.

WrestleVotes is reporting the following about the next episode:

“Sources indicate NBC’s second episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event is set for January 25th, with the location still TBD.

A bold scheduling move, as it lands just one week before the Royal Rumble.”
