• Nia Jax Talks About WWE Using Bodyshaming In Her WrestleMania 34 Storyline

During a recent interview with The Mirror, Raw Superstar Nia Jax talked about WWE using bodyshaming in her WrestleMania 34 feud with Alexa Bliss for the Raw Women’s Championship and if she has faced bodyshaming in real life.

Below are the highlights:

On WWE using bodyshaming in her feud with Alexa Bliss:

“I think it’s amazing. I think it’s something that people know but they don’t want to talk about it, they always want to keep it hidden. I feel like we’re tackling it head-on and it should be [tackled]. Young women and young girls, and boys, should actually be hearing this and seeing the conflict that we go through and seeing somebody stand up for themselves and not have to allow somebody to bully them, because of the way they look, what their shape is, or the color of their skin is. You should always stand up for yourself. So I think it’s amazing. I’m very honored to be a part of it.”

On if she has faced bodyshaming in real life:

“Oh yeah. You know, growing up… it’s crazy how real this storyline is to my real life. And especially with Alexa being such a close, best friend of mine for so long, she has seen it. She has hurt me , because I’ve confided in a lot of these stories that have happened to me. It surprises me that it has become such a big storyline in WWE, because it relates to me completely.

Growing up I was made fun of for always being bigger. I specifically remember, at one of my junior high basketball games, a man, a grown man was making fun of me and my size, as I was playing basketball. They didn’t realize that my Samoan father was in the audience. And he, he err… beat the crap out of them, but that’s a whole ‘nother story! But yeah, that’s something I’ve dealt with my whole life, people making fun of me and my size. Everything from having a huge forehead, to the size of my feet, and not being able to wear the same size shoes as my friends, definitely.”

• WWE Given Big Time Money For Hulk Hogan’s Return At Greatest Royal Rumble Event

According to DirtySheets.Net, WWE was paid $15 million in “cash” by their Saudi Arabia business partners to get “The Immortal” Hulk Hogan to appear at the upcoming “Greatest Royal Rumble” event on April 27th as they are big time fans of the Hulkster.

Vince McMahon went back & forth on this situation and decided to bring in a lot of Hogan merchandise in Saudi Arabia. This could be very big sign regarding a WWE return for the biggest name in the history of Professional Wrestling.

It should be noted that WWE recently issued a statement that they’re not rehiring Hogan, but that can always change:

“We have had discussions with Terry Bollea (aka Hulk Hogan) about how he can help others learn from his mistakes, however, he is not under any contract with WWE.

Hulk Hogan is an important part of Andre the Giant’s history, however his appearance at HBO’s premiere of the documentary and his plans to help others learn from his mistakes does not mean WWE is rehiring him. Hogan is not scheduled to be at any upcoming WWE events.”
