Episode 4 of WWE Unreal reveals one of the wildest alternate plans WWE considered for Elimination Chamber 2025 – one that could have turned the entire WrestleMania 41 picture on its head. According to former WWE writer and current Seven Bucks Productions executive Brian Gewirtz, he and The Rock personally pitched a bombshell idea to WWE officials. The plan was to have The Rock offer Cody Rhodes the chance to be “his champion,” effectively aligning with him.
Cody would refuse and that refusal would spark an unexpected title match right then and there with an opponent of The Rock’s choosing, which would’ve been Kevin Owens. Owens would’ve walked out of Elimination Chamber as the new WWE Champion.
Gewirtz explained, “Kevin Owens winning the title wasn’t the end goal. The takeaway was whatever it is we do needs to be seismic.”
While that exact scenario never made it to TV, the version WWE ultimately chose was still “seismic” in its own right – John Cena turning heel and selling his soul to The Final Boss.
