On this day in 2016, we lost Old School ECW Veteran Balls Mahoney (Real name: Jonathan Rechner) at the age of 44 due to a heart attack.

The first time we saw him on TV was when he did televised jobs for the World Wrestling Federation in 1992 and later joined Jim Cornette’s Smoky Mountain Wrestling in 1994.

Before Balls Mahoney made a name for himself in Paul Heyman’s Extreme Championship Wrestling, he portrayed The Million Dollar Man’s evil Santa Claus called “Xanta Klaus” on WWF TV for a short period of time.

In ECW, he won 3 Tag Team Championships, 2 with Spike Dudley and 1 with Masato Tanaka.

• WWE Had Another Big Intergender Match Planned For Nia Jax

According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE had another big Intergender match planned – Nia Jax vs. Randy Orton.

Orton RKOed Nia during the Men’s Royal Rumble 2019 match and it’s possible WWE wanted to continue that angle and have them face off in singles competition.

However, this plan was nixed as well – similar to how Nia Jax vs. Dean Ambrose match was cancelled.

During a recent interview with Inside The Ropes, Nia gave the following reason for her match with Ambrose being cancelled:

“Unfortunately my schedule was messed… they didn’t have the schedule right. And I have Total Divas work that I had to go to. So, it was more of like, the scheduling was off and we couldn’t make it work.”
