On his Off The Top podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi gave his honest take on Charlotte Flair’s place in wrestling history, and he didn’t sugarcoat it. When the topic of a potential match between his daughter-in-law Naomi and Charlotte Flair came up, the conversation soon turned to Flair’s legacy. Rikishi was asked if he considered Charlotte one of the greatest women’s wrestlers of all time. His answer was clear. “No, I wouldn’t,” Rikishi said. “There’s so many other wrestlers before her time. If they were still young and had the same opportunities, they could’ve kept up with her. They just weren’t pushed like her. But they were every bit as talented.”
He pointed out that many of the women who paved the way don’t get the recognition they deserve. “You don’t hear too much about women legends like that anymore. If someone like Jazz were in her prime today, she’d be a top contender with the current roster,” he added.
Rikishi also took a moment to highlight rising NXT star Nikkita Lyons. He expressed admiration for her work and stressed that success in wrestling isn’t just about athletic ability. “I’m a big fan of Nikkita Lyons,” he said. “Hopefully these girls today get a chance to sit in the same locker room as some of the legends I mentioned. You can learn so much from them. It’s not just about how your moves look — it’s about making every moment mean something. Emotion, storytelling, facials – those are what truly connect.”
• WWE Might Hold Two WrestleManias a Year Soon
WWE may be planning to expand WrestleMania into a twice-yearly event, with Saudi Arabia poised to host one of the editions. The Wrestling Observer reported that the company’s ongoing 10-year partnership with Saudi Arabia could lead to one of their major international shows being branded under the WrestleMania name.
This wouldn’t replace the United States-based version, but could mean the global juggernaut would now have two flagship WrestleMania-branded events each year. The idea could follow the same branding approach WWE used for The Greatest Royal Rumble in 2018 (the first Saudi event), using the “WrestleMania” label for promotional power and financial leverage. WWE might use a variation of the name, rather than duplicating the traditional WrestleMania event.
The reasoning behind this strategy is simple: WWE stands to earn an enormous amount of money and could reduce criticism over the Saudi deal by aligning it with their most prestigious brand. Right now, WWE gets $50 million for every Saudi Arabia event. One can only imagine how much they’ll get for a WrestleMania in the Kingdom.
WWE will return to Saudi Arabia this Saturday for Night of Champions. Word going on is that this will be the only Saudi PLE of 2025, as WWE plans to do 3 PLEs in Saudi next year instead of the usual two, since Royal Rumble 2026 will take place over there.
