Below are a couple of top AEW news stories of the day.
• WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff tweeted the following about AEW’s business:
“I’m paying close attention to the pathetically low ticket sales for the ‘A’ show, and the embarrassing, continued deterioration of the viewing audience across all their shows. #JustFacts”
Disco Inferno then tweeted:
“The shame is that the guy running the show is saying this is their best run of shows they have ever done while it’s happening.”
Bischoff then posted a screenshot of WrestleTix’s tweet, which states that tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite is set up for 3,097 fans and there are still 309 tickets available, and wrote:
“When they are struggling to sell out a 3,097 seat venue 24 hours before a live episode of their ‘A’ show, I’d say it’s pretty pathetic.”
• AEW, under the direction of Tony Khan, is reintroducing a familiar face to the promotion, much to the delight of many involved.
This returning figure is QT Marshall, who left AEW in December, expressing a desire to wrestle rather than solely work behind the scenes.
Marshall’s departure was influenced by disagreements over the direction of the product; he favored an entertainment-based approach, while Khan emphasized the importance of wrestling matches in storytelling.
Additionally, tensions arose when CM Punk reportedly opposed Marshall’s involvement in certain segments, leading to Marshall’s exclusion from AEW Collision.
Despite these challenges, Marshall was well-liked within AEW.
Fightful Select is reporting that Marshall will be Vice President of Creative and Talent. He will not return to in-ring competition within All Elite Wrestling but may wrestle elsewhere.
