Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, involving Bron Breakker and WrestleMania 40.
• On last week’s episode of SmackDown, Bron Breakker showed up backstage and met Triple H. He asked him for advice regarding which brand he should join: RAW or SmackDown.
Their interaction was interrupted by Paul Heyman, who then met Breakker.
According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE has already planted seeds for a program between Breakker and Roman Reigns down the line:
“It’s been noted with Heyman showing up in the Breakker segment on SmackDown and Breakker doing the ‘Best Spear in the business’ T-shirt and gimmick that this could be a subtle start for a program way down the line.
Obviously Reigns has programs set up for Rock and Sikoa as well and he only does a few matches per year.”
• The main event of WrestleMania 40 – Night 2 is going to be Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
According to the Wrestling Observer, The Rock & WWE Champion Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes & World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins is going to be the main event of Night 1.
Here’s what they reported about Rock’s heel turn:
“There is said to be far more behind the scenes that hasn’t come out but given the timing can’t be talked about now. But [The Rock] over the weekend said it was best to be out of the Reigns match, put Cody in, which by this point everyone conceded by then.
It was [Rock] who then pitched the heel turn and he did pitch the idea of the Reigns & Rock vs. Rhodes & Rollins match for Night 1. So that was his idea.”
