3. Good News For AJ Styles’ Fans
The following update contains spoiler regarding post-SummerSlam 2016 storylines on WWE programming. Click on “Read More” if you want to read it or else go to the next page for more updates.
The original plan for SummerSlam 2016 was for “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles to face “The Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose for the WWE Championship. But WWE felt that this would leave Cena without a match at the biggest event of the Summer (he also didn’t have a match at WrestleMania 32), so Styles vs. Cena II was booked and Dolph Ziggler was booked to become the #1 contender for the WWE Championship.
As we noted before, Styles is expected to beat Cena in their rematch at SummerSlam 2016 (clean win this time, without any interference). Another thing that supports this is the fact that Cena will be taking time off after SummerSlam 2016 for the filming of American Grit.
Styles will be getting involved in the WWE Title picture again after SummerSlam (he feuded with Roman Reigns for the Title after WrestleMania 32).
Styles and Ambrose faced off before on Raw, with Ambrose picking up the win.
