Below are some top WWE & AEW news stories of the day.
• WWE is preparing for Rey Fenix’s arrival, but he remains under contract with AEW for now.
Fenix wants to leave AEW, but the company extended his deal due to time missed from injury. While initially considered for AEW’s February releases, that didn’t happen, and the added contract time is believed to be close to a year.
According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE has already started making plans for Fenix, though his AEW release hasn’t been confirmed. Once his contract expires, he is expected to reunite with Penta as the Lucha Bros in WWE.
• Stephanie McMahon is set to launch an official WWE podcast this spring.
After leaving her WWE executive role in January 2023, McMahon has made occasional appearances but has not returned in an official capacity.
WrestleVotes reported that Stephanie’s upcoming podcast will explore her life and experiences in wrestling, promising a compelling series.
“A very interesting name is set to debut an official WWE podcast soon—Stephanie McMahon will be launching her own podcast series, expected this spring. Given her life and experiences in wrestling, this series should be as compelling as they come.”
• During an interview with Kenny McIntosh of Inside The Ropes, Drew McIntyre revealed that The Rock has always supported him:
“That’s never lost on me. He’s always been a supporter of mine from my first run. I remember seeing his ex, Mrs Dany Garcia that he works with at such a high level, and she’d said such positive words when I was about 22-23 years old on a plane about how highly they thought of me, which was very cool.
The Rock’s always had an eye out for me ever since back then, with TMZ positive comments in 2017 when I really wasn’t doing anything to suggest that I was the next guy. He could see it all the way through to these days where he’s still there for advice.”
