During a recent episode of the “Extreme Life of Matt Hardy” podcast, Matt Hardy offered insights into the current contract situation of his brother, Jeff Hardy, with AEW. Previously reported by Fightful in April, Jeff’s contract was set to expire this spring. However, AEW retains the option to extend the deal due to Jeff’s missed time.
Jeff Hardy, who hasn’t competed since sustaining an injury during a No DQ match against Sammy Guevara on Valentine’s Day, has been cleared to return. Matt explained Jeff’s current situation, stating, “He’s been cleared. He’s just sitting at home waiting on the call. Unlike me, he’s not someone who really gets out and makes things happen. He just kind of waits on someone to call him. He sits at home, just waiting on that phone call, jumping on the trampoline up and down with the dumbbells.”
Regarding the specifics of Jeff’s contract, Matt added, “He’s got to, like, mid-June or so, I think, and then his deal is up. So I guess we’ll see if he ends up re-signing or not re-signing.”
Matt highlighted Jeff’s contentment with being at home but also acknowledged Jeff’s desire to conclude his wrestling career on a high note. “He’s very happy to be home. But I do know what’s important to him is to finish up his career, and our run on a high note. I know that it’s something that he wants to do. So it’s gonna be interesting to see what happens.”
Reflecting on his own experience, Matt expressed satisfaction with his current role in TNA and praised the organization’s treatment of him. “I’m very happy with my positioning right now in TNA, how I’ve been utilized. I have no complaints about it, and they’ve been a joy to work with thus far.”
Matt concluded with a broader life lesson, emphasizing the importance of personal accountability. “You can’t make excuses or complain about things in life. You need to take a look in the mirror at the end of the day.”
