Below are a couple of top AEW news stories of the day.

• On his podcast, 2-time WWE Hall of Famer Booker T shared his thoughts on how AEW can improve its product. He emphasized the importance of creating stars and putting on a well-rounded show, using NXT as an example of a promotion that excels in this area.

Booker T stated, “I can say it once, I can say it a thousand times, but it’s about creating stars. I think it’s about creating a show. I think that’s why NXT is so good right now because it’s a really, really damn good show. The guys play their roles and they play their roles very, very well.”

When asked if AEW’s struggles (mentioning how the TV viewership has fallen) are due to WWE’s current popularity, Booker T disagreed.

He explained, “I don’t think it has anything to do with WWE why they’re not clicking on all cylinders… the numbers are falling off just to let you know that the fans even feel like they’re not doing something to keep them motivated.”

He suggested that AEW needs to reformulate its show and bring in more help to keep viewers engaged and maintain strong ratings.

• FTW Champion Hook, ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe, Orange Cassidy & Kyle O’Reilly defeated The Learning Tree (Chris Jericho, Big Bill & Bryan Keith) and Roderick Strong on last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.

Hook made Strong tap out, but Strong’s foot was on the bottom rope. Referee Aubrey Edwards walked right over Strong’s leg after calling for the bell.

Former WCW President Eric Bischoff wasn’t a fan of what Aubrey did here and tweeted the following:

“Shockmaster level. Maybe worse.”
