Below are some top WWE & AEW news stories of the day:

– WWE NXT and AEW Dynamite went head-to-head last night.

NXT drew 921,000 viewers with a 0.30 rating in the 18-49 demo, which is up from last week’s 857,000 viewers with a 0.22 rating. This was NXT’s highest viewership since the September 25th 2019 episode.

Dynamite drew 603,000 viewers with a 0.26 rating in the 18-49 demo, which is down from last week’s 800,000 viewers with a 0.28 rating.

A fan posted an AI generated image of NXT booker Shawn Michaels with the “Booker of the Year” award, after a lot of fans enjoyed last night’s NXT.

AEW President Tony Khan saw this tweet and replied:

“Actually I’m pretty sure that last night blew whatever chance he had at winning that award.”

– In a new update on the CM Punk situation, the Wrestling Observer is reporting that the former World Champion wanted to return to WWE after almost 10 years, but Vince McMahon and other top Executives turned down his request, for now:

“They turned (CM Punk) down. He wanted to go there, and the decision was a no. It can always change, and it was brought up to me that there’s no such thing as ‘No forever’ when it comes to WWE, but it’s no for now.

That was the decision that was made. It’s Vince’s decision. Vince, Nick Khan, Paul Levesque, and obviously, they decided that the negatives outweighed the positives.”

Punk was last seen in WWE at Royal Rumble 2014.

– On last night’s NXT, The Undertaker returned to WWE TV. The American Badass punched and chokeslammed Bron Breakker.

Zelina Vega tweeted the following about this moment:

“The punch heard around the world bruh 😂 he said MIRA! POW POW!”

Zelina later tweeted the following about the whole NXT episode:

“Wow NXT was INSANE. It has a special place in my heart. From tranquilo poses, to my flying ranas to ‘too short’ chants & marrying the man who said it 😂 to becoming the 1st ever Queen Of The Ring, Tag Team Gold, to becoming the First Lady of LWO & Backlash.. all started at NXT!

What a fun night! Watched NXT and then had a great time talking about it post show with my Twitch chat! Watched some old NXT memories combined with some of my favorite moments. Thanks guys!!”
