• WWE Officials’ Reaction To Fans Booing Triple H After John Cena Tapped Out
After putting up an incredible fight for over 20 minutes and refusing to give up, John Cena ultimately tapped out to GUNTHER’s Sleeper Hold in his final WWE match.
The shocking finish left the entire arena and fans around the world stunned, as the man who had always preached “never give up” finally did just that.
The booking decision led to an extremely negative reaction for WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H from fans in the arena.
The internet is divided, with some arguing that Cena should have passed out instead of tapping, while others felt that GUNTHER forcing The GOAT to submit elevated The Ring General to a whole new level.
The Wrestling Observer reported the following regarding the fan backlash toward Triple H after Cena tapped out:
“Even though [WWE] may say something different publicly, they were blindsided by that reaction.
The idea that ‘we did it, knew it was gonna get heat, it’s just the price we pay’, like when they’re all chanting (on the post show) and [Triple H is] going ‘ah I thought it would be louder,’ that was a defense mechanism.
I don’t wanna say there was no discussion of a reaction, but I was told there was no discussion.”
• Current Plan For GUNTHER At WrestleMania 42
GUNTHER picked up the biggest win of his career when he made John Cena give up at Saturday Night’s Main Event, sending the G.O.A.T into retirement with a tap out loss.
On this week’s RAW, GUNTHER mocked the 17-time World Champion. He came out laughing and took victory laps. The Ring General said: “I made John Cena give up, and when he gave up, he tapped out like a little b*tch. It is my time now.”
GUNTHER was confronted by multiple wrestlers backstage. R-Truth called him a piece of trash. General Manager Adam Pearce called him an a$$hole and told him to leave. While leaving, GUNTHER met AJ Styles. GUNTHER did the “you can’t see me” to AJ and left.
According to Self Made Pro, WWE is planning to do GUNTHER vs. Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42. This dream match was the original plan for WrestleMania 40 in 2024, but it didn’t happen due to Brock being pulled from WWE programming after he was mentioned in the Vince McMahon – Janel Grant lawsuit.
As per current reports, two other matches that are rumored for WrestleMania 42 are: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship and CM Punk (c) vs. Bron Breakker for the World Heavyweight Championship. Punk vs. Breakker for the World Title is currently scheduled for the January 5th RAW as well.
