At WWE WrestleMania 38 in 2022, Edge defeated AJ Styles with help from Damian Priest. They went on to form The Judgment Day.

Rhea Ripley and Finn Balor were then added to the group, and the original leader Edge was kicked out. Dominik Mysterio was added to the group later as well. In 2024 Priest left the faction, while Rhea was replaced with Liv Morgan.

During an interview on the Not Sam Wrestling podcast, Edge aka Adam Copeland revealed that WWE originally wanted to reboot The Brood, an iconic Attitude Era faction, when he was pitched this storyline.

Here’s what The Rated-R Superstar said:

“Rhea Ripley is a star and Damian Priest is a star and Finn Balor’s a star.

So initially, it was brought to me like, ‘Hey, we want to kind of start a New Brood’ or something that feels somewhat like that. I’m like, ‘Who would it be?’ I was like, ‘Ripley and Priest’.

‘Well, we want it to be four’. So, it’s like… Balor! Okay, well, then it was like, ‘We want somebody really huge’. I was like, okay.. all right.. and then I got a text two weeks later. ‘How about Balor?’ I’m like, ‘Yep! amazing idea’ (laughs).”

Edge feuded with The Judgment Day after being kicked out and the storyline came to an end at WrestleMania 39, where Edge defeated “The Demon” Finn Balor inside Hell in a Cell.
