• Old School WWF Veteran Celebrates His Birthday

Old School WWF Veteran Man Mountain Rock (Real name: Darryl Peterson) turns 58 today.

After wrestling in Memphis, Japan & Europe for a while, he joined Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling in 1993 as Maxx Payne, but was fired in 1994 by WCW president Eric Bischoff.

By early 1995, Vince McMahon had signed him to a World Wrestling Federation contract, where he was known as Man Mountain Rock, a character who played a large electric guitar.

Injuries as well as his drug & pain killer addictions eventually led to his release from the WWF in the fall of 1995.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAN MOUNTAIN ROCK!

• WWE Planted Seeds For Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez On This Week’s RAW

As we have noted before, former two time UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez is in talks with some major wrestling promotions (including WWE & AEW).

WWE is interested in signing Cain to a deal as they want to do a UFC rematch between Brock & Cain. For those who don’t know, Cain destroyed Brock at UFC 121 back in 2010 to win his first UFC Heavyweight Championship.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, WWE planted seeds for this match on this week’s RAW during Paul Heyman’s backstage interview segment after Lesnar attacked Rey Mysterio and Dominick:

“Okay, so that promo he talked about tough guys and mixed martial arts and fighters…that was a promo for Cain [Velasquez] now, whether that’s gonna end up happening.

The whole segment with Rey and everything, you beat up the Mexican and the Mexican superhero badass comes in, that’s kinda where the idea was behind everything. Cain has not signed either so they have an idea. Obviously it’s Brock and Cain and this stuff was in that direction, but it may end up not happening, but that’s the destination in theory that this is headed toward.”

It’s possible that WWE did all of this to get Cain interested and sign with WWE.

We’ll keep you updated regarding this.
