• OLD SCHOOL VIDEO HISTORY (August 12, 1981) – Bruno Sammartino Retires

On this day in 1981, Vince McMahon Sr.’s World Wrestling Federation aired an interview with former WWWF World Heavyweight Champion Bruno Sammartino, in which he announced his retirement.

The retirement wouldn’t last long, as he returned to the WWF, that was now owned by Vince McMahon Jr., in 1984 as a commentator but also to wrestle some matches every now and then, thus turning into a semi-retired part timer.
