It looks like Ric Flair (who currently works for AEW) isn’t a fan of how Nick Khan and Triple H are running WWE these days.
During an interview with Charly Arnolt (fka Charly Caruso in WWE) on OutKick, Flair said WWE is very political now:
“I like the fact that the kids make a lot of money. That’s the most important thing. Unlike myself, they are more conscious because of the people around them and the culture being different of taking care of their money, paying taxes on time, stuff like that.
It’s really corporate now, and I dressed the part, but I could never think like that. I don’t have the patience. AEW, very professional, it’s an easier pace. There are politics everywhere in the world, but the WWE right now is very political.
The fight for control. Everybody wants to run WWE. I liked the way Vince ran it. For better or worse, everybody knew where they stood more than they do now. Social media is out of control with stories. You don’t even know what’s real anymore.”
Ric Flair signed a multi-year deal with All Elite Wrestling in 2023, and his “Wooooo! Energy” drink is the exclusive energy drink of AEW.
The manufacturer of the “Wooooo! Energy” drink will cover a significant part of Ric’s AEW salary, if not all. That’s why the drink tie-in is an important part of Ric’s deal with AEW.
Flair’s deal is similar to that of Randy Savage’s deal with WCW in the mid-90s, where Macho Man’s Slim Jim deal paid a lot of his salary.
During an interview with The New York Post, AEW President Tony Khan said the following about Flair’s salary:
“We’re not paying Ric Flair. Ric Flair is essentially paying us. We’re getting paid by Wooooo! Energy for all of his appearances, so we’re collecting revenue from them.”
