• WWE Signs Son Of Former ECW World Heavyweight Champion

WWE has hired former NWA wrestler Colby Corino, the son of former ECW World Heavyweight Champion Steve Corino.

Here’s what Fightful Select reported:

“In an update on Colby Corino, he is headed to WWE. We noted that WWE couldn’t legally reach out to him until his deal with NWA was up.”

On January 2nd, Colby announced that he is now a Free Agent.

Colby’s father Steve Corino used to work for Paul Heyman’s Extreme Championship Wrestling from 1998 until the promotion closed its doors in early 2001.

He later performed for Total Nonstop Action! (TNA) in 2002 & 2003 and by 2016 became a full-time trainer at the WWE Performance Center.

Old School Wrestling Celebrity Would Have Celebrated His Birthday

Today would have been the 74th birthday of Old School Wrestling Celebrity Andy Kaufman (Andrew Geoffrey Kaufman).

Famous actor & entertainer Andy Kaufman started to wrestle women, who’d win a $1,000 prize if they could defeat him, and offered World Wrestling Federation promoter Vince McMahon Sr. to bring that act to WWF TV, but Vince Sr. dismissed the idea, so Kaufman had Bill Apter introducing him to Jerry “The King” Lawler, who ended up bringing him to the Memphis territory and working a program together.

The famous Kaufman/Lawler feud included matches and a (kayfabe) confrontation on an episode of the “Late Night with David Letterman” show.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY & † REST IN PEACE
