The show kicks off with SmackDown Live Commissioner & General Manager, Shane McMahon & Daniel Bryan, coming out to a big pop from the crowd.
Bryan hypes the crowd with the return of WWE Hall of Famer Edge and The Undertaker (who returns to the Blue Brand after three and a half years).
Bryan announces that the show will kickoff with the Intercontinental Championship match between Dolph Ziggler & The Miz. Footage from Talking Smack is shown where Bryan says he would be happy to trade Miz to Raw if he’s not able to win the Intercontinental Championship back tonight.
The winner of this match will defend the Intercontinental Championship against Raw’s Sami Zayn at this Sunday’s Survivor Series 2016.

During the ending moments of the match, The Spirit Squad tries to interfere but Ziggler Superkicks them. The Miz manages to pin Ziggler with the help of Maryse to win the Intercontinental Title and become a 6 time Champion!
