• Rey Mysterio Reveals What He Would Have Changed About The 2014 Royal Rumble Match After He Got Booed

During an interview with Inside The Ropes, Rey Mysterio talked about his interaction with WWE for Royal Rumble special appearance this year, how reaction from WWE Universe at Royal Rumble (2018) got him emotional, how WWE kept him (and The Hurricane) a secret, and the booing he got at 2014 Royal Rumble & how he wished to change that.

Below are the highlights:

On his interaction with WWE for Royal Rumble surprise appearance this year:

“Well, since it’s already been out. There is nothing I can hide. There was interaction with WWE and myself earlier this year, beginning in January. We wanted to come up with a surprise for a special entrance at the Royal Rumble. I took the opportunity to come back, and do one event at this time right now. What better event than the Royal Rumble? I still hold the record for the longest time being in that ring and then winning it after all.”

On how reaction from WWE Universe at Royal Rumble 2018 got him emotional:

“Being able to come back, being the first event that they give to the fans in the new year, the Rumble, was going to bring back a lot of sweet memories, which it did. I had no idea what to expect. You have that mystique, or the feeling of whether or not the fans want me back. I knew it was going to be a reaction, but I didn’t know whether or not it was going to be a mixed reaction, and the fans blew me away. It was very emotional. From backstage, WWE staff… old faces that I hadn’t seen in a while, like: Randy, Miz, Brock and Paul Heyman, to stepping out on that stage and hearing the reaction from the fans. It was just breathtaking.”

On how WWE kept him and The Hurricane’s return a secret:

“It was a very well kept secret. They had hidden us inside of a bus. They had me and The Hurricane inside of a bus. We didn’t fly into the city. We didn’t fly into Philadelphia. We flew in from Newark, New Jersey on the day of the show so a lot of the wrestlers didn’t know that we were going to be there.”

On him getting booed in the 2014 Royal Rumble match & how he wished to change that:

“I go back and think about that day. At the time of things happening like that moment, you don’t think right off the top of your head, but I wish I would thought what I thought after the event, after watching it over and after hearing the reaction from the fans, I would have literally came back after hearing the reaction from the fans because I know that Daniel Bryan was backstage, I would have grabbed him and told him to come out and take my number.

I would have walked backstage and given him my number and would have told him to take my spot, but unfortunately it didn’t happen. The fans were pi$$ed because they wanted to see someone else. The boos weren’t directed at me, but wanted to see Daniel Bryan.”

• WWE Star Returning Soon Under His Previous Name?

After the most recent name change of Apollo Crews to only Apollo, it looks like injured Raw Superstar Big Cass might be getting his name changed as well.

WWE has filed a trademark application for “Colin Cassady” (which is Big Cass’ old character) and this has begun speculation that Big Cass’ name might be getting changed.

There’s speculation going on that WWE might be doing this to disassociate him from his former tag team partner Enzo Amore (who was released from the company earlier this year after rape accusations).

Speaking of Big Cass, he’s expected to return to WWE programming soon.
