– WWE Veteran Says Raw Wrestler Has Been Killed Off, Says WWE Is Missing Vignettes
During a recent edition of “The Brand” podcast, former WWE writer Vince Russo, WWE & WCW Veteran Vito LoGrasso, OVW Veteran Kenny Bolin and co-host Jeff Lane talked about last week’s episode of Raw. Below are the highlights:
On The Miz & Baron Corbin’s feud:
Russo: Vito, what do you think about this, the number one wrestling organization in the United States of America and we’re shooting angles based on one wrestler making a comment about another wrestler’s wife on Twitter?
Vito: I think it’s pretty weak. That means the character development and the angle development is not developing on TV like it’s supposed to. Because there’s not enough time to direct it and get it over.
And if you don’t have vignettes and that’s what they’re missing is the vignettes directed at each other to create an angle. A lot of people don’t listen to Twitter or aren’t on the social media. They just watch the TV. So how can they know what’s going on.
If you’re portraying it on TV and letting the people watch this. They’re changing things last-minute, a lot of surprises are coming up, a lot of title changes and everything, it’ll go on in the show while we’re talking, but they have not developed any strong angles to where you want to watch any of the Survivor Series coming up.
On the “Guitar on a Pole” match on Raw:
Russo: Since when does a pole match not end in a one-two-three. What was that? Jordan, he stomped on Elias’s guitar last week. He killed the guitar last week. So now he uses the guitar on the heel.
Do they think they’re protecting the heel by not having Jason Jordan pin him? I never saw a pole match end with the guy using what was on the pole and never getting a 1..2..3.. I never saw that in my life .
Kenny: Here’s what I’ve never seen in a pole match and I guarantee you I’ve seen more than probably all of you combined. What I’ve never seen in a pole match is where you didn’t have to climb the down pole to be able to get the object that was on it.
The guitar was hanging three feet within his reach over by the rope and I’m going – All the hell he’s got to do is put his foot on the bottom rope and he can grab the guitar which is almost really what he did. And then when he got the guitar and then of course he dropped it again, two weeks in a row he dropped his guitar.
Apparently someone’s greasing that sumb*tch up or something I don’t know what the hell’s going on, but he can’t seem to hang on to his guitar. It was pathetic. It was absolutely pathetic.
Vito: That was the worst match I’ve seen. The guys couldn’t work together. If you look at the way they worked, the concept of the match stunk. And they basically killed off that guy, Elias.
No longer will he be able to use the guitar. They washed him out. He’s got no more gimmick. He’s got nothing. What did Jason Jordan get? He got to be with his daddy on the Raw team. Elias was left in the ocean to die. That was the worst thing I’ve ever seen. A waste of the talent. A waste of the gimmick. Where do they go from here with Elias?
On Braun Strowman vs. The Miz:
Vito: You already knew he was gonna get an a$$-kicking. They should have stretched this out right before the Survivor Series to give Baron Corbin at least a halfway chance to beat The Miz because you know, The Miz is gonna win.
But the whole angle is horrible. I thought he mistook a good a$$-kicking. And then they broke it up and they got out of it without nobody getting pinned, without The Miz losing his title. Kane coming in to do the rundown, you know it’s gonna be Kane and Strowman, big man match.
They’re gonna wanna put Strowman over because they have nowhere to go with him, like I’ve been saying for the past eight weeks. They got nothing to do with this guy. He’s going nowhere.
Now Kane, where did they go with him? He’s not going after Lesnar. He’s not going after Samoa Joe. He’s not going after Bray Wyatt. They’re making this monster that’s invincible that they’re gonna have nobody to play with him.
The only thing he could do, like I said four weeks ago, is for him, go to SmackDown, stop picking off people and go after the SmackDown brand.
