WWE is interested in signing a former World Champion, but not as a wrestler!

In the main event of IMPACT Wrestling’s Slammiversary 2023 pay-per-view this past Saturday, Alex Shelley defeated Nick Aldis (fka Magnus) to retain the IMPACT World Championship.

With this loss, Aldis’ short-term deal with IMPACT has come to an end and he is a Free Agent again.

According to PWInsider, WWE is interested in signing Aldis, but as a backstage producer, not a wrestler:

“Numerous WWE sources today confirmed that there is high interest in former NWA and TNA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis, now that he is free and clear.

We have heard from sources today that Aldis’ name has been discussed internally as a potential Producer for the company in recent weeks.

The talk today was that he may go through a trial process for that role as soon as next month.

As we reported at the onset of the year, there was interest in Aldis, at the time as a wrestler, around the Royal Rumble, after he exited the NWA.

Aldis exited IMPACT Wrestling yesterday after a short-term agreement expired. His IMPACT run went as planned in terms of timeline, we are told.”

For those who don’t know, Nick Aldis is married to former WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James.
