LA Knight has arguably been the most over star in professional wrestling in 2023.
The fans have been behind him throughout the summer and rooted for him to win the Money In The Bank contract this year, which unfortunately did not happen. Many fans called for him to win the United States Championship as well, but WWE decided not to put a title on him yet.
He did get to win the Slim Jim Battle Royal at SummerSlam and was given the big responsibility of main eventing the Bray Wyatt and Terry Funk tribute episode of SmackDown last month, where he defeated Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champion Finn Balor.
Knight also got a win over The Miz and was endorsed by John Cena last Saturday at the Payback premium live event.
The Wrestling Observer reports that Knight is expected to receive a mega push going forward due to the ratings for his segments and his strong merchandise sales.
Knight has been the number one merchandise seller for WWE in recent months, and has also garnered impressive social media engagement for the company.
As noted before, PWInsider reported that WWE and Knight have been negotiating a long-term deal, which has either been finalized or is close to being finalized. The contract extension is believed to be up to 5 years, which is an indication of the fact that WWE wants him around for a long time.
The former Million Dollar Champion is also listed as the number one babyface on SmackDown internally.
