• WWE’s Current WrestleMania 42 Plan For Sami Zayn

According to Bodyslam, WWE officials are discussing Sami Zayn vs. Trick Williams for WrestleMania 42. As previously noted, Self Made Pro reported that internal talks at WWE include the idea of a double turn. This means that at the exact same time Trick becomes a babyface, Sami would shock everyone by becoming a heel.

Insiders say this scenario is being seriously considered by the creative team. While Sami has been one of the most loved babyfaces in the company for years, WWE seems interested in seeing how he would do as a villain again while they capitalize on Trick’s growing popularity.

Sami has been frustrated as of late because he failed to win the Undisputed WWE Championship and Trick has continuously mocked him for not being able to get the job done.

WWE is getting ready to shake things up for WrestleMania 42, and it looks like Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton are the main focus. While Drew McIntyre is the current Undisputed WWE Champion, PWInsider reports that WWE really wants to deliver a “Student vs. Teacher” Rhodes vs. Orton title match in Las Vegas.

To make this happen, insiders expect a huge title change this Friday on SmackDown when Cody challenges Drew. Insiders clarified that this move isn’t because of any issues with Drew’s performance, but rather because they want a fresh, high-stakes story. Having Randy Orton win the Elimination Chamber was the first step in this new direction, designed to give fans a big surprise heading into the spring.

As for Drew McIntyre, his future is a bit up in the air. WWE could turn the WrestleMania match into a triple threat, or they might have him face Jacob Fatu.

Another interesting — though less likely — idea being discussed is a match between Drew and SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, which would finally mark Aldis’ first official wrestling match in a WWE ring. Aldis had a heated exchange with McIntyre after Elimination Chamber went off the air.

As we previously noted, Self Made Pro also reported that Cody is expected to win his 3rd Undisputed WWE Title this Friday.

Speaking of Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton, WWE has teased this match for the last two years, ever since Cody’s first reign as WWE Champion. They squared off at Night of Champions 2025, but it wasn’t for the title. On that night, The American Nightmare defeated The Viper to become the King of the Ring.
