Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, involving Gable Steveson and Roman Reigns.

• Gable Steveson appears to have fully committed to WWE, indicating that his amateur wrestling days, including a potential return for the 2024 Olympics, are likely over.

Despite not being featured on television since last summer, Steveson has participated in a few live events in NXT, with his sole TV match resulting in a no-contest against Baron Corbin at NXT The Great American 2023.

Recently, he worked a dark match at a SmackDown event, with plans for more appearances in the coming weeks.

According to PWInsider, WWE plans to have Steveson at pretty much every SmackDown taping on Friday, so he can work dark (untelevised) matches before the shows and get better by getting more in-ring experience.

• On Friday’s episode of SmackDown, AJ Styles, LA Knight and Randy Orton signed the contract for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match at Royal Rumble 2024.

Paul Heyman came out and said that Roman Reigns will not be signing the contract.

SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis then said that if Roman doesn’t sign it, then the Title will be vacant and the three men in the ring will face off at the Royal Rumble for the vacant championship.

Later in the night, Reigns signed the contract, thus making his next championship defense official.

In a TikTok video, The Tribal Chief shared his thoughts on Aldis:

“I don’t like him. Nick Aldis, I don’t like him. We’re gonna figure him out. We’re gonna fix him.”
