1. WWF Legend Returning For A WWE Championship Match At SummerSlam 2017?

As we noted before, the original plan for SummerSlam 2017 was for Jinder Mahal to defend his WWE Championship against the 16 time WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena in one of the co-main events on the show.

However, that plan got cancelled when WWE officials decided to do another AJ Styles vs. John Cena match at SummerSlam this year, this time for the United States Championship. With Cena & Styles being involved in a program for SummerSlam, Jinder Mahal finishing his program with Randy Orton at Battleground 2017 and Shinsuke Nakamura not being put in the WWE Title picture this soon, there’s no active top babyface left on SmackDown Live to feud with Jinder Mahal at SummerSlam.

However, WWE has a plan to counter this problem. There have been talks of former WWF Champion and SmackDown Live Superstar Chris Jericho returning to WWE programming and entering into a program with Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam 2017. This could be WWE owing Jericho one, as the original plan for WrestleMania 33 was for Jericho to defeat Kevin Owens to capture the Universal Championship (but it was changed when WWE decided to put the Title on Goldberg and then him dropping it to Lesnar).

We’ll keep you updated regarding this.
