• WWF Legend Says Chris Jericho Was Jealous Of His Quick Rise To The Top

On a recent episode of his weekly ‘The Kurt Angle Show’ podcast, our Olympic Hero mentioned that he thinks fellow WWF Legend Chris Jericho was jealous of his meteoric rise to main event status in the WWF.

Both of them debuted on World Wrestling Federation TV in the second half of the year 1999. While Jericho, who came from WCW, won his first World Title in December 2001, Angle became World Champion more than a year earlier in October 2000.

Here’s what the 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist had to say about the situation:

“No, no, I felt it. It was, you know, it rang true. Chris never talked about it, but I’m sure he thought about that because there is no doubt. We both started around the same time, and you know he came in from WCW, and I started in WWF.

Some of my first programs were with Chris Jericho, and it seemed like I elevated a lot quicker, and I was very, very, very new to the business. Chris had been wrestling for at least a decade.

So, I was just surprised that they didn’t elevate Chris as quickly as they elevated me, and you know, for whatever reason it was, maybe because it was he came in from WCW.”
