WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan recently discussed the differences between wrestling stars of his era and today’s top talents.

Appearing on Barstool Rasslin’, Hogan was asked why wrestlers today can rise to the top of the industry but don’t reach the same level of stardom as he or ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin did.

Hogan attributed the change to WWE’s production, saying, “Well, you gotta realize, nowadays the star of the wrestling business is the production, where back in the day you had to actually draw money to be the main event guy.”

Hogan explained that while his own run lasted 40 years, many other major stars, like Bret Hart and Steve Austin, had shorter periods of top-level success.

He emphasized the difference between being a main eventer, an attraction, and an international phenomenon, noting that very few stars, like Andre the Giant, achieved that level of global awareness.

He also credited WWE’s modern production system for being able to elevate anyone to main event status, regardless of injuries or setbacks.

“If someone gets hurt right now in the WWE, the machine is so big and the production is so slick and so sharp that they can make anybody their main event star because they’ve got this thing down to a science.

WWE is on FIRE and they’re doing better now than they’ve ever had.”
