In a recent episode of her podcast “Page and Austin,” former UFC fighter & current AEW star Paige VanZant didn’t hold back in expressing her skepticism about the romantic involvement between pop sensation Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end, Travis Kelce. VanZant boldly asserted that the much-publicized “love story” between the celebrity pair is “100% fake.”
According to VanZant, the relationship serves as a calculated “publicity stunt,” orchestrated to benefit not only the individuals involved but also the NFL as a whole.
The 29-year-old fighter argues that Swift’s association with Kelce is a strategic move to tap into a previously untapped demographic for the NFL, leveraging the singer’s massive fan base.
“I think that the Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce ‘love story,’ I believe it’s 100% fake,” VanZant remarked on her podcast. “Come for me, Swifties. I have UFC fans coming for me; I think I can handle the ‘Swifties.'”
VanZant further elaborated on the potential gains from this alleged publicity ploy. “It is publicity. It is — one, it’s huge for the NFL because yes, the NFL is big. Taylor Swift is huge, and now she’s getting an entirely different demographic to come watch the NFL,” she explained. “Think of the wives that are buying Travis Kelce jerseys now. It’s a huge publicity play on both fronts. It’s good for Taylor Swift, it’s good for the NFL, it’s good for Travis Kelce. There is so much strategic stuff that’s happening.”
The rumored relationship between Swift and Kelce began garnering attention when the Grammy award-winning singer made an appearance at one of Kelce’s games at the start of the season.
Since then, the duo has been spotted together publicly at various Chiefs games, during Swift’s “Eras Tour” leg in Argentina, and even on “Saturday Night Live”.
VanZant’s bold claims have sparked a reaction among fans, with the fighter anticipating backlash, particularly from Swift’s devoted fanbase, the “Swifties”.
